Many of you know that I joined NuYou Weight Loss and More in February 2017 to better my life! I needed to take off excess weight and I knew people who had been very successful on their weight loss programs through NuYou. Luckily, I had that same success! In 9 months, I lost 80 pounds and over 80 inches with the help of NuYou’s weight loss programs! My life has been changed for the better and I feel fantastic. Since October of 2017 (my wedding month) I’ve been crushing it. Maintaining the weight loss has been fairly simple and I’ve been doing well with my calorie adjusting and my maintenance phase of the program. I also became a Lifetime Member at NuYou because it helps to insure my continued success, accountability, guidance, and support. Oh how quickly things can go off the rails…

A few days before my wedding, which was October 14, 2017, my grandma Ida became ill. Up until that point she was a 96 year old woman still living on her own. She was strong and independent and we felt that she was invincible and would live forever. Grandma was so sick she wasn’t able to attend my wedding and shortly after, she ended up in the hospital. Then it was back and forth to the nursing home, to the assisted living facility, and to the hospital. She was still doing ok and we were having a lot of great moments with her. This February, things started going down hill quicky and ultimately grandma ended up passing away on May 3rd. As we always knew in our hearts, grandma Ida was not invincible. Throughout these past 3 ½ months it has been particulary difficult and very stressful to watch grandma decline, and then to be with her in the final days of her life was beyond heartbreaking. As we were grieving the loss of grandma, two days after grandma’s funeral my uncle Bob passed away (on May 11th) unexpectedly of a heart attack. Nobody could have prepared us for that shock and heart break. It’s just not fair. This is when I throw my hands up in the air and I scream, “Really?! Enough is enough already! I can’t take any more!” Life went off the rails and it things got rough. The days are still rough, and I have my moments of sadness, but each day gets a little easier.

On May 18th I was very upset to see that the scale was up 8 pounds from where I want it to be and where I feel it should be. I’m not going to lie, all of this stress and heart ache has pulled me away from the determined and structured life I had been building for myself since February of 2017. I have not been eating properly. Sometimes I’ve skipped meals, especially on those days when I was sitting in the hospital at grandma’s bedside. I’ve made some poor choices depending on my mood and the amount of sadness I’m feeling. I haven’t worked out in two months, and my headaches from the brain injury I sustained in January of 2017 have also returned with vengeance. Again…enough is enough. I’m extremely aware of what I’m doing and what needs to change. I’m writing today to let you know…we’re all human. The struggle is REAL. Life is full of very big challenges that sometimes pull us down. But my grandma and my uncle were both so proud of me for my weight loss accomplishment and the fact that I was more healthy. I know that I need to get back on track. I will do it for them, but most importantly…I will do it for the whole reason I did this in the first place. I will do it for me and for my husband. So we can have a long and healthy life together. Because I know NuYou’s Weight Loss Program like the back of my hand and because I know I have their support and I believe in this program, I’m happy to report that as of today (5/24) I’m already down 2 pounds! One day at a time…

Finally I was Bride - image of Brittany styles at her wedding.

I don’t know if my weight was a factor in being single for so many years, or not, but I believe it’s possible. If I’m being brutally honest (here goes), I am not physically attracted to excessively overweight people.  So when I was overweight, I would think to myself…why would someone be attracted to me if I’m 80 pounds overweight? I thought about that a lot actually and it makes sense.  Let’s make something very clear; I have nothing against people who are overweight.  What I DO know is that I’m personally not a fan of MY body being overloaded with excess weight because it’s not healthy for ME.

“Brittany, you’re beautiful on the inside and the outside.” That’s what people would tell me all the time. I never believed them about the outside part. I would dress myself to look presentable in the body that I had, but the truth is I was always pretty uncomfortable in my body. I was uncomfortable until I met Kevin. I like to call him “Mr. Awesome” because that’s what he is. We were set up on a blind date on October 14, 2015 and we both went into it with very low expectations. At that time, I was about 70 pounds overweight. I had gotten used to being rejected and that’s why I stopped putting myself out there. But, this time I gave it a chance. And thank God I did. He saw past the extra weight and saw the true me. He got to know my heart and fell in love with me for who I was. And because we were so happy and in love, we enjoyed a lot of going out to dinner, cocktails, etc. while we were getting to know each other. I put another 10 pounds in the first year of our relationship. That “fat and happy” thing is a real doozy but it’s a real thing! I felt comfortable with him and I knew he loved me for me. Yet, I still wasn’t happy with myself.

The night of Saturday, January 21, 2017 Kevin proposed to me and made me the happiest woman on Earth! The very next morning, our lives changed in the blink of an eye. I fell 10 feet off of a stage at Wedding World and suffered a brain injury. Being that I lived to tell the tale…wow, was that a wake up call. Being that I was going to the doctor more frequently during my recovery, I was having a lot more conversations with my doctor. One in particular solidified what I had known all along. It was time that I do something about my weight before it would become a real medical issue.

That brings us to the best decision I ever made. Walking in the door at NuYou Weight Loss and More in Onalaska at the end of February 2017! With their guidance and their Weight Loss Programs, I lost 80 pounds and over 80 inches (while only losing 3 pounds of muscle) in just 9 months. All of those years of suffering and being unhappy…and in just 9 months…I got my life back! Their programs work! You follow them and you will get the results. It’s simple.

On our wedding day (on our 2 year anniversary of meeting) I felt like the most beautiful bride in my wedding dress. That was something I didn’t think I would ever get the chance to experience. Both; being a bride and feeling or looking beautiful in my wedding dress. Hands down the best day of my life, so far. Thank you NuYou! …Now…let’s get you started!

    Spring Into Action image

There is no such thing as a perfect diet or an easy way to lose weight. No matter which way you choose to lose weight, it takes discipline, dedication, and focus. That was my major downfall before I started the weight loss programs at NuYou Weight Loss and More. From the time I was in my early 20’s, I remember trying various diets. Cutting carbs, eating all one thing for a long period of time, eating only soup…the list goes on. Sure, I lost some weight…but I gained it all back and then I gained more on top of it! I never understood proper nutrition until I went through the weight loss programs with NuYou! That’s what is so wonderful about their programs. They teach you the importance of a healthy balanced diet. Protein, dairy, fruit, vegetables, and starches. It’s finding the right balance and the correct amounts of each that will help you to get where you want to be. And that’s why you pay the professionals to teach you! You just follow the program and stay on track.  Plus, you have their constant support and advice.  It was such a wonderful experience!

It took me years of being unhealthy, unhappy, and overweight to realize it was time to make a change. It took a brain injury and doctor’s words to push me to the point of making the ultimate, forever change. I also wanted to be healthy for my new husband and our life together. Once you find the love of your life, you want to be around for a lifetime to enjoy that happiness as long as you possibly can!  Plus, the thought of possibly wanting a child some day was hanging over my head.  If I want to have a healthy pregnancy some day, I’ll need to healthy myself. Thanks to NuYou’s weight loss programs, I lost 80 pounds and over 80 inches in just 9 months! I’m revived and feeling healthier than ever!

We recently had a Fitness Expo for our radio station and invited celebrity fitness instructor Billy Blanks (creator of Tae Bo) to do a work out with a group of people. The work out was very intense, but I stuck with it the entire time and felt wonderful afterwards.  I know there is absolutely no way I would have been able to get through that work out with 80 extra pounds on my body, and I’m grateful that I was able to participate and feel motivated to do that work out!  I feel more motivated than ever before to continue doing different forms of exercise, not because I HAVE to…because I WANT to!  Totally different perspective for me now, and I’m grateful to NuYou for helping me achieve my goals!

You want to be healthy, right?  The weather is changing, spring is coming, and soon summer will be here!  Shorts, tank tops, and less clothing. Feel good in your body and in your clothing. Check out NuYou Weight Loss and More’s programs and set up your first consultation to get more information. Get ready to take on summer like a #Boss!

Brittany Styles - Collage of Then and Now

I have worked at Z93 for almost 14 years.  I am grateful every day for the career that I have been blessed with!  When I started working at Z93 back in 2004, I was in great shape.  I was 23 years old and I was teaching dance, I enjoyed working out at the gym, and I was very active.  Life changed dramatically when my sole focus became my radio career.  It started with working 3rd shift, which was a major change in my life schedule.  After a couple of years I switched to 2nd shift and four years later, I changed my schedule again to host the morning show in 2007!  That was hard on my body and it seemed to take me a long time to get used to the eating and sleeping habits of each shift change.  Add in some major health problems along the way, and before you know it…I had gained 80 pounds over 13 years.  I’m still not exactly sure how I let that happen, but I did.  I guess it was the simple fact that eating fast food, anything that I could heat up in a microwave or anything fast, was easy for a girl on the go.  I also did my fair share of going out clubbing with friends and enjoying cocktails! 🙂 That leads to eating more bad food and making poor nutrition choices.  It’s a vicious cycle.  One that too many of us are far too familiar with, unfortunately.

I suffered a traumatic brain injury in January 2017.  Countless doctor visits for therapy and healing meant getting weighed a lot.  That was the first time I had weighed myself in a long time.  And it was like a punch to the gut each time I got on that scale.  And finally, I had a tough conversation with my doctor about my need to lose some weight in order to be more healthy.  It made me face the truth about where I had ended up.  Deep down I knew it, but when you hear it from a healthcare professional…somehow it becomes real.  It was time to do something major because I had been given a second chance at life.  I couldn’t waste another minute…

I joined NuYou Weight Loss and More in February 2017 and in just 9 months I turned my life around.  80 pounds gone and over 80 inches melted away!  The programs at NuYou are incredible and the support is even better.  Before NuYou, nothing worked and I felt very defeated.  I just felt stuck.  Two of my friends showed me that their lives had improved because of NuYou and I wanted to be the next person to change my life.  So, I did!

    Brittany Styles Weight Loss Collage

I have struggled with my weight for the past 10 years.  The scale kept going up and I kept pretending that it didn’t bother me.  I was having fun.  I was eating whatever I wanted.  I was having as many cocktails as I wanted.  My clothes kept getting tighter and I was forced to buy bigger sizes.  It bothered me, but I just kept pushing it off to the side and I would find outfits that would hide the parts of me that I disliked the most.  In pictures, I would often think to myself…that doesn’t even look like me.  But for some reason, it still didn’t register.  Sure, I tried a few diets over the years.  I tried cutting out carbs and had some luck temporarily.  But then I looked at a french fry, and I gained it all back and then more on top of that!  It was out of control.

I had pretty much given up on dating because I had dated all of the wrong guys who treated me poorly.  I finally found Mr. Awesome in October of 2015.  At my heaviest weight, this amazing man wanted me.  How was that possible?  He thought I was beautiful, even though I wasn’t skinny like I used to be.  So, of course…that did not help with my motivation.  I was fat and happy in love.  Or so I thought.  While looking at my friend’s profiles on Facebook, I had seen a couple of them transition into healthier bodies with the help of NuYou Weight Loss and More in Onalaska.  So I started asking questions and in November of 2016, I went in for a free consultation.  They told me everything about the program.  The cost, how it would go, my commitment, etc.  I left the clinic and I did not sign up that day.  I wasn’t ready to commit.

January 21, 2017 Mr. Awesome proposed to me and made me the happiest woman on the planet.  But within 12 hours that would all change.  The next morning, I fell backwards off of the stage at Wedding World and I suffered a traumatic brain injury.  As you know, I lived!  It was a miracle.  Although there was intense therapy, difficult healing procedures, and I’m still recovering…I’m alive.  That day, everything changed.  My outlook on life and how I viewed it.  I was not healthy.  I was too over weight and I was unhappy.  Once I was cleared by doctors to start a weight loss program, it was time to start.  I went back to NuYou in February 2017 and started the program on February 28th.  I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.  I knew it was going to take will power and dedication.  But I knew that after what I had suffered through with my accident, I could handle anything.

I started with the NuYou Fast 1000 program, did the NuYou Fast 800 program and also tried the NuYou Pronto program.  The journey has not been easy, but it has been worth every dollar I’ve spent and every decision I’ve made to make healthier choices to get to a better me.  I’m a brand new person.  As of October 27, 2017 I lost 80 pounds and over 80 inches.  I’m healthy, happy, and I love shopping for clothes.  No more size 18 pants and XXL shirts.  I’m now wearing a size 8/10 pants and a Medium size shirt.  It feels amazing and now I’m happy and most importantly, I’m healthy!  It’s your turn to start the next chapter.
